Shemakes - Women in fashion: paving the way for female entrepreneurs

This is an online event. Please register (for free) to receive information on how to attend the meetup.

Within the fashion and textile industry, the majority of the workforce is represented by women. Looking closer, we can see that even in this industry where women are overrepresented, the gender equality gap is still a struggle. If there are so many women, how come only about 14 percent of major brands have a female executive in charge?

As part of her shemakes project, Waag’s TextileLab Amsterdam organises a panel discussion with leading women in the Dutch fashion and textile industry. Together, we will discuss how to address the gender gap, and create enabling networks that support more and more women stepping into leading roles. During this evening we will share experiences and various perspectives. We will discuss the possibilities to work towards stronger support networks for positive change in the textile and clothing sector.
