The shemakes consortium

Shemakes.eu is a two-year European-Union funded initiative with a consortium of ten partners in seven countries.
The lead partner is CEDECS-TCBL, a French innovation and business development consultancy that is the service company of the TCBL Association. Other partners are:
the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), Waag in Amsterdam, Onl’Fait in Geneva, Fab Lab León, Redu in Iasi (Romania), Matrix based in Düsseldorf, and the global organization Makesense.
Evaluation is carried out by The Tavistock Institute GmbH. Communications are managed by Flod, a Florence (Italy) agency.

TCBL Textile & Clothing Business Labs

TCBL-CEDECS (founded in 1987) is a French consultancy focusing on supporting innovation and business development. Since January 2020, CEDECS counts amongst its shareholders 10 senior consultants who collaborated on the Horizon 2020 project TCBL (Textile Business and Clothing Labs). TCBL-CEDECS is the service company of the TCBL Foundation.

Institut d'Architectura

The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) is a cutting-edge education and research center dedicated to the development of an architecture capable of meeting the worldwide challenges in the construction of habitability in the early 21st century. IAAC is the founder of Fab Lab Barcelona and of Green Fab Lab located in Barcelona’s Collserola Natural Park.

IAAC supports educational and research programs related to the multiple scales of the human habitat. It is also the global coordination entity for Fab Academy, a digitally distributed educational platform where students develop knowledge about the principles, applications, and implications of digital manufacturing technologies. IAAC’s Fab Lab is one of the leading laboratories in the worldwide network of Fab Labs. The laboratory is equipped with technology to produce “almost anything” and explores the relationship between digital and physical worlds by integrating digital technologies into research projects to foster bottom-up innovation.

Waag

Operating at the intersection of science, technology and the arts, Waag was founded in 1994 on the values of fairness, openness and inclusivity. Waag strives to empower citizens to work together to make practical change now. Waag has extensive experience in interdisciplinary community building, project management in innovative and avant-garde projects and technical infrastructures.

Fablab Amsterdam is the first Fablab that opened its doors within Europe and is located on the second floor of the Waag. TextileLab, also within Waag, is a creative research lab combining digital fabrication processes, crafts techniques, textiles knowledge and material research into relevant opportunities for the textile, fashion and material fields and how these affect the way we work together towards change.

Onl'fait Fab Lab

Onl’Fait is an open educational-technological maker space with the goals of promoting the spirit and mindset of scientists and makers, encouraging inclusion in the community, facilitating science learning, supporting the open hardware and software movements, and contributing to new ways of production and consumption.
Onl’Fait opened Fab Lab Geneva in 2017.

Fab Lab Leon

Fab Lab León is the first project of the Telice Magnetic Anomaly Foundation whose objectives are to stimulate the spirit and development of entrepreneurial and leadership skills, and to stimulate interest in science and technology as pillars of knowledge and innovation. Fab Lab León has reflected on the need to complement its activities in the field of technology, digital manufacturing and the Information Society with cross-cutting actions in the area of scientific-technological training and dissemination, encouraging and promoting closer relations of science, technology and innovation to citizens, improving the scientific and technical education of society at all levels.
 
Fab Lab León’s “Poderosas” project fosters new vocations for girls by eliminating existing stereotypes and prejudices suffered by women in the scientific field. It is built as a set of educational programs and events designed to promote self-confidence and support the aspiration of technical careers for girls.

Makesense

Makesense is a global organisation that inspires and supports engaged citizens, entrepreneurs and organizations, to build an inclusive and sustainable society together. To achieve this ambition, makesense develops various engagement and innovations programs ranging from community activities, incubation programs and consulting.

The Tavistock Institute

The Tavistock Institut gGmbH (TIG) is a not-for-profit organisation based in Cologne (Germany) that aims to improve working life and conditions for people within organisations, communities and societies, conducts research and evaluation, and offers training programmes throughout Europe. It applies social science ideas and methods to problems of policy and practice, change and innovation, and organisational design.

Tavistock Institut gGmbH (TIG) follows the same objectives of the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations (THIR) including advancing the study of the psycho-sociology of relations) between human beings and groups or classes or categories of human beings, and of the influence of environment in all its aspects on the formation or development of human character or capacity. A particular strength of the Institute’s work is a commitment to the utilisation and implementation of research findings particularly focused in the areas of employment policies, education and training, learning, technology development, partnerships, social capital, local & regional development, and health & social welfare.

REDU

REDU  is a green social entrepreneurship project and the first in Romania to creatively reduce textile waste and to raise awareness on the very high hidden costs of the textile and fashion industry. As well, apart from providing concrete alternatives, REDU is the main actor in raising awareness in Romania regarding the negative impact of the fast fashion and textile industry.

Matrix

Matrix is a service company, social innovator and industry facilitator with a portfolio ranging from corporate, regional and political consulting, communications, product design and innovation management. Matrix is a pioneer in collaborating in open knowledge environments, such as FabLabs, business incubators as well as involving the maker movement as an engine of innovation.

Active as a consultant in digital manufacturing applied to textile product and assistive devices, Matrix boosts the digitalization process in companies and supports the development of strategies for the creation and improvement of textile products in an early stage from conception to the production with an added value.

Over the past years, Matrix has established close connections with companies in the textile industry involved in networking, as well as working within the STEM to STEAM partnership. This process has been a successful work in supporting and advising the creation of different digital manufacturing laboratories in the region of North Rhine-Westphalia.

FLOD

Flod is a communications agency based in Florence, Italy that helps companies and projects communicate their unique offering through branding, content creation, social media management and more. The bilingual and bicultural team has experience deriving from various backgrounds, and is specialized in the communication of sustainability, especially in the textile sector.
